Fonts Should be Free

I suppose I don't sympathize much with fontographers. I don't want to pay $30 for a font to use in a logo once. Even if I did pay the $30, I wouldn't even be sure if I wanted to use the font. However, I guess there's no other way to get money for the design put into fonts.

Maybe font designers can just resort to using advertising on their download sites? That most likely wouldn't go over too well. Possibly collect royalities on font usage? Definitely another no-go. I guess fonts can't be free but really, unless you're not the one paying, purchasing typesets is a ridiculous venture.

We need to see some more free professional font sites out there.

A bit about me

I'm a freelance web designer from just outside of Chicago, Illinois. I focus on usability and simplicity. I use CSS wherever possible, leave the complex art to others, and write standards-compliant markup.

Beyond that, I study engineering, write reviews for consumer electronics, and like fast cars.
